Why do you want to learn how to play the guitar?
In the book of Psalms, we find:
"Play to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy." - Psalm 33:3
Yep, that's right. Play skillfully. As a beginner guitar player, you might feel overwhelmed with all the things that you need to learn with the guitar. Or you might have been playing for a long time and feel that you're playing hasn't improved. Whatever the case, DO NOT BE OVERWHELMED! : )
Take it slow but continue learning. Learn something new everyday and most importantly, have fun doing it. If practicing the guitar is beginning to feel like a chore, then pause and tell yourself why you wanted to learn to play from the beginning. Remember, we play the guitar to worship God, not to be perfect guitarists! Practice so you can play better for God, and that you may be in position to teach others as well.
This blog is to build on the latter. I'm not an expert guitarist but I have developed techniques over the years playing in church worship using either the acoustic or electric guitar. And this is what I want to share to you.
